How to Install Third-Party Apps on Firestick, Fire TV Cube, or Fire TV Smart TV

Some IPTV and streaming apps are not available in the Amazon Appstore, so you’ll need to sideload them onto your Fire TV device. This guide will walk you through installing third-party apps using the Downloader app.

✅ Works with:

  • Amazon Fire TV Stick

  • Fire TV Stick 4K / 4K Max

  • Fire TV Cube

  • Fire TV Smart TVs

🔧 Step 1: Install the Downloader App

  1. From your Fire TV Home screen, go to Find > Search.

  2. Search for Downloader.

  3. Select and install the Downloader app by AFTVnews.

  4. **Do not open it yet. **

⚙️ Step 2: Enable Developer Mode

  1. From the Home screen, go to Settings (gear icon).

  2. Select My Fire TV
    (On Smart TVs, choose Device & Software instead).

  3. Select About.

  4. Click the first option (e.g., “Fire TV Stick 4K”) 7 times until you see:

    “No need, you are already a developer.”

🛠 Step 3: Enable Installation from Unknown Sources

  1. Press the Back button once.

  2. Select Developer Options.

  3. Look for one of the following:

    • Apps from Unknown Sources → Turn it ON


      Or

    • Install Unknown Apps → Choose Downloader and turn it ON.

📥 Step 4: Use Downloader to Sideload the App

  1. Open the Downloader app from your Apps list.

  2. The app will ask for storage permission — select Allow.

  3. In the URL field, type the direct download link of the APK file you want to install.

  4. Click Go.

    • If it’s a file link (ends in .apk), it will start downloading automatically.

    • If it’s a website, use the built-in browser to navigate and click the download button.

📲 Step 5: Install the APK

  1. Once downloaded, the installer will appear.

  2. Press the Down and Right arrows on the remote to highlight Install.

  3. Press the Select button to install the app.

  4. When finished, select Done (or Open, if you want to launch it immediately).

🗑 Optional: Delete the APK to Free Up Space

  1. After installing, you’ll see a prompt to delete the APK file. Choose Delete.

  2. You can also delete APKs manually:

    • Open Downloader → Go to Files

    • Find and select the APK → Choose Delete

▶️ Step 6: Open Your New App

  1. Hold down the Home button on your remote.

  2. Select Apps to view all installed apps.

  3. Scroll to find your newly installed app and launch it!
